Digital Literacy Of The Community Is Importantly Improved To Prevent Sexual Violence

JAKARTA - The high development and spread of information technology and social media has actually contributed to the form of gender-based violence. Safenet through the guidelines for Electronic-Based Sexual Violence (KSBE) that penetrates the digital world has the same impact as sexual violence that occurs in the real world.

Generally, these acts of violence have the intention of harassing victims. Komnas Perempuan stated that KSBE is a fairly worrying crime. The approach to this crime is in the form of cyber grooming, illegal content, violation of privacy, threats of the spread of personal photos or videos, defamation, to online recruitment.

In the period May 2022 to December 2023 Komnas Perempuan received 2,776 reports of cases of violence against women based on electronics. In order to prevent KSBE perpetrators from carrying out their actions, social media users must fully understand digital literacy.

Given that the increasing number of social media users is increasing day by day, the Ministry of Communication and Information reminds the public of the importance of digital literacy through an Online Obral Obbrol Digital Literacy (OOTD) discussion entitled "KSBE Prison Until Completely" on Friday 6 September.

It is hoped that in the discussion the public can anticipate the gaps in the occurrence of KSBE. Not only that, it is also hoped that the community will also increase ethics and responsibility in the use of digital technology.

According to records from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, as many as 679 KSBEs hit Indonesian children, especially girls. Indonesian Cycle Creator Content, Putri Khatulistiwa said this had entered the emergency level considering that children and women were vulnerable categories.

"This situation shows an urgency that increases efforts to prevent and handle KSBE. Because girls are more vulnerable," said Putri Khatulistiwa when speaking at the OOTD webinar.

Another resource person, Oktora Irahadi, said that not only women, KSBE could also happen to men. Usually, KSBE actors who target men aim to commit fraud and extortion. That's why men must also be vigilant if there are signs of KSBE actions on social media such as short messages from unknown people, or suspicious website links.

"What is currently just moving from offline to online. So basically everything has existed since ancient times. Not only girls, boys should also be aware that there are many dangerous things KSBE," said Oktora Irahadi, Coordinator of the Cybercreation Creative Content Division.

In addition to preventing by increasing digital literacy, the public is also advised to dare to speak and report to the authorities if they experience KSBE. The reason is, obeying the threat of the perpetrators of these immoral acts will only make this crime happen protracted.
