BPBD Collects Rapid Data On The Impact Of The Shallow Earthquake Of Gianyar Magnitude 4.9

DENPASAR - A shallow earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was felt in most of Bali Island and the Head of the Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Made Rentin said the team is currently conducting a rapid study in districts/cities to see the impact, including in Gianyar Regency.

"Currently, a quick assessment and initial assessment is being carried out by collecting data and information from all BPBD regencies/cities throughout Bali," he said in Denpasar, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 7.

From initial information in Gianyar Regency, there was minor damage in the form of cracked walls and tiles falling in buildings belonging to the Gianyar Tourism Office.

Rapid reports also came from the Besakih Temple area, Karangasem, where strong vibrations were felt but there was no damage.

It is known that the tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 centered on land was two kilometers northeast of Gianyar at a depth of 10 km, which occurred at 09.51.44 WITA.

BMKG records by paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, he said, this earthquake is a type of shallow earthquake due to active fault activity on land.

After the tremor was reported, aftershocks were also reported, but with light vibrations of magnitude 2.5 at 10.34.46 WITA, magnitude 2.3 at 10.41.20 WITA, and magnitude 1.9 at 10.58.44 WITA.

"All regencies/cities feel the tremors of the earthquake quite hard, currently in the process of checking the impacts that occurred, there was no information on the fatalities," said Rentin.

From radio and telephone communications to district/city BPBD, the Bali BPBD noted that outside Gianyar Regency so far the earthquake was felt, but there was no information on damage or casualties.
