KPK Council: KPK Pansel Don't Pass Candidates For Ethical Defects

JAKARTA - KPK Supervisory Board member Syamsuddin Haris asked the Selection Committee (Pansel) for Candidates for Leadership and Supervisory Board of the KPK not to pass candidates who are ethically disabled.

The request was submitted after the trial for reading the ethical decision of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, today, Friday, September 6. He was declared to have violated moderate ethics for abusing his authority.

"Maybe we urge the KPK leadership and council committee so that anyone with an ethical defect is not passed as the leader or council of the KPK," said Syamsuddin at a press conference at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.

"Because this concerns the future of eradicating corruption in Indonesia," he continued.

Meanwhile, Nurul Ghufron left his full fate to the KPK's committee of candidates. He said he could not influence the independence of the Pansel.

"I just leave it to the committee," said Ghufron after attending the verdict trial.

As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board stated that Nurul Ghufron as Deputy Chair of the KPK violated ethics. He was then given moderate sanctions.

Ghufron was sentenced to moderate sanctions in the form of a written warning by the KPK Supervisory Board for violating Article 4 paragraph 2 letter a of Perdewas Number 3 of 2021. His income was also cut by 20 percent for six months.

The KPK Supervisory Board said that Ghufron was decided to violate ethics related to the abuse of influence or position behind the mutation of the ASN Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) named Andi Dwi Mandasari (ADM). He used his influence to contact Kasdi Subagyono as Secretary General and concurrently Acting Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Ghufron wants ADM, who is an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture's Inspectorate II, to be transferred to the Center for Agricultural Technology Assessment and Development in Malang," said the KPK Council. Meanwhile, when clarified, the employee admitted that he never asked.

The communication with the Ministry of Agriculture was carried out in conjunction with an investigation into the alleged procurement of cattle at the Ministry of Agriculture which is being handled by the KPK which allegedly involved members of the DPR RI.
