Today, Jokowi Inaugurates Ministry Of Health Hospital Worth IDR 2 Trillion In Surabaya

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Surabaya Ministry of Health Hospital (Kemenkes) in East Java, which cost more than IDR 2 trillion to provide public health services.

In his remarks, President Jokowi said that the highest cause of death in Indonesia was due to stroke, heart attacks, and cancer.

"East Java ranks third after Yogyakarta and Central Java, be careful about this. So the construction of the Ministry of Health hospitals in Surabaya is very important in that context," said President Jokowi, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 6.

President Jokowi said he did not want sick people to have to go to neighboring countries, such as Singapore and Malaysia.

He also assessed that the Ministry of Health Hospital Building is like a five-star hotel with good services. The President hopes that with services such as hotels, sick patients can recover quickly and not even feel comfortable because of the good hospital.

"This will prevent the loss of our foreign exchange of approximately Rp180 trillion every year, because our people go to Singapore, go to Japan, go to Malaysia, go to America, for treatment. Rp180 trillion is huge once," said President Jokowi.

The Head of State added that the construction of the Ministry of Health Hospital took up to IDR 1.6 trillion in budget, plus the procurement of new medical equipment of IDR 368 billion, as well as a budget for human resources of around IDR 50 billion, bringing the total to more than IDR 2 trillion.

The Ministry of Health Hospital in Surabaya will also later not only serve the people around East Java, but also become the hub for eastern Indonesia.

President Jokowi added that the government has no problem issuing a large budget for the construction of the Surabaya Ministry of Health Hospital because health services to the community will be better.

"I think the government has no problem issuing a budget as long as health services to the community are getting better. Rooms, hospital beds are also getting better, lighting in hospitals is also getting brighter," said President Jokowi.
