BMKG: Most Cities In The Country Rain Friday Afternoon

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts light, moderate, to heavy rain will flush the majority of major cities in Indonesia today, Friday, September 6, 2024.

BMKG forecaster Ida Pramuwardani in a report quoted by ANTARA, explained that the potential for light intensity rain or with rainfall less than 2.5 mm per hour will flush the cities of Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Selor, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Ambon, with temperatures ranging from 24-31 degrees Celsius.

Some other cities such as Jambi, Mamuju, Makassar, Kendari, Palu, Manado, Nabire will experience moderate rain or rainfall of more than 4.0 mm per hour with temperatures ranging from 21-28 degrees Celsius.

In the forecast for rain accompanied by lightning, it will occur in Sorong, Manokwari, Merauke, Banda Aceh, Medan with temperatures estimated to be around 23-29 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rain with rainfall of more than 50 mm per hour is predicted to flush the city of Padang with temperatures ranging from 24-28 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, for the cities of Jakarta, Kupang, Gorontalo, Palembang, Lampung, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Kupang, Banjarmasin, Palangka Raya, Serang, Bengkulu, Semarang, Surabaya, Mataram, Samarinda, Pontianak, and Ternate, it is predicted that it will be cloudy throughout the day with temperatures ranging from 24-31 degrees Celsius.

BMKG forecasters explained that the Yagi Tropical Cyclone is still being observed in the South China Sea east of Vietnam which forms a deceleration area as well as wind or convergence gatherings, especially around the South China Sea, Andaman Sea, Malacca Strait, and around the Thai bay.

Other convergence areas were also observed on the west coast of West Sumatra, Southeast-Central Sulawesi, West Papua, and Papua Mountains.

The wind confluence area is observed around the South China Sea and the North Pacific Ocean of Papua. This condition is estimated to be able to increase the growth of the rainy cloud.

In this case, the surface wind in Indonesia is generally dominated by winds blowing from the Southeast at a speed of 1585 km per hour. It is also necessary to watch out for the increase in wind of more than 25 knots which is estimated to occur in the southern coastal areas of Java and South Papua.
