JAKARTA - Duren Sawit residents ganged up on the robbers who were caught on Jalan RS Sukamto, East Jakarta, Thursday morning, September 5. Despite being hit many times, the perpetrators were still seen smiling, laughing a little.

Ismi, the victim of robbery, explained that at the time of the incident he put his cellphone on the dashboard of the motorbike. The perpetrator is suspected of having followed the victim's motorbike so that when the victim was careless, the perpetrator immediately took his cellphone quickly.

"I was at the red light, my cellphone was on the dashboard. But because I felt like someone was following me, I held my cellphone, but it was also hit ( snatched)," Ismi told reporters.

The victim, who knew that his cellphone was taken, immediately shouted for help and tried to chase him.

"I chased the person, the perpetrator himself. The cellphone has been taken, he (the perpetrator) has been held," he said.

Meanwhile, residents who knew about this mugging immediately chased the perpetrators and secured them. A number of residents who were furious with the actions of the perpetrators immediately beat the crowd to a pulp.

"The perpetrator I chased and was assisted by ojol, finally the perpetrator was arrested," he said.

Police officers who came to the scene immediately secured the perpetrator and evidence to the Duren Sawit Police for further investigation.
