KPU Surabaya Extends Registration For The 2024 Pilkada Paslon To The Day After Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Surabaya, East Java, has extended registration for the Surabaya City regional head election (pilkada) from Monday (2/9) to Wednesday (4/9).

The commissioner of the Surabaya City KPU, Bakron Hadi's Technical Division, said that the extension of the registration was carried out following the current registration of no other candidate to register, except for Eri Cahyadi-Armuji.

Bakron said that previously, socialization had been carried out regarding the extension period for registration from Friday (30/8) to Saturday (1/9).

"This extension starts today (2/9) until September 4. The date (30-31/8) and date (1/9) is the socialization that there is an extension," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 2.

Bakron said that until now, no political party has intended to carry a candidate.

"Officially there is no (political party) that carries candidates, but there are individual candidates, but it's closed (independent candidate registration)," he said.

Bakron explained that the political party that could nominate during this extension period was a political party that was not a proposer.

It is known that of the 18 political parties that proposed Eri-Armuji in the 2024 Pilkada, three of them were only supporters.

"The conditions are still the same, not only regarding the extension of support registration, but until the way to become the party proposing the conditions is still the same. The candidates must be present. Then the chairman and secretary must also attend," he said.
