President Jokowi Calls Pramono Anung Has Not Talked About Wanting To Resign From Cabinet Secretary

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that Pramono Anung has not expressed his desire to resign from his current position as Cabinet Secretary to run as a candidate for governor in the Jakarta Regional Head Election.

"I haven't told me if I want to resign," said President Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 30.

The President said in his rules that ministers are allowed not to step down from their posts before advancing and running as candidates for governor or deputy governor in the regional elections.

The President has also allowed Tri Rismaharini to resign from the Minister of Social Affairs, although Risma's regulations are allowed to remain in office.

However, according to President Jokowi, Risma's resignation from the Minister of Social Affairs is better.

"Yes, it's better, but if it doesn't (resign) the rules, it's okay, allow it," said the President.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said Pramono Anung had not applied for leave from his current position as Cabinet Secretary to President Joko Widodo, after registering as a candidate for governor in the Jakarta Pilkada.

"There has been no application for leave to the President," said Ari in a written message.
