The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia stated that until the end of the registration period, there will be 51 prospective pairs of independent candidates who will advance in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

According to him, for the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor, there is one individual candidate pair, namely in DKI Jakarta Province.
While the rest, said Idham, there will be 38 pairs of candidates for the regent and deputy regent. As for the city level, namely candidates for mayor and deputy mayor as many as 12 pairs.
"This individual candidate for the provincial level only exists in DKI Jakarta, namely the pair Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana," he said.
He added that the pairs of candidates for regional heads who advanced through political parties or coalitions of political parties during the three days of registration received 1,467 pairs of candidates ranging from the provincial, district and city levels throughout Indonesia.
He detailed that there were 37 provinces holding the 2024 Pilkada and of these there were 100 pairs of candidates who registered through the political party route.
As for the district level, continued Idham, of the 415 regions that organize the Pilkada, there are a total of 1,095 candidate pairs. Meanwhile, for the city level, there are 93 with a total of 272 pairs registered by political parties and a combination of political parties.
