SAMARINDA - The joint SAR team in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan found one child in the name of Marwah (6), dead, after previously being swept away by the current due to flooding during heavy rains in the city.
"Last afternoon we received the report of the incident, the team went straight to the scene, coordinated with the victim's family, and immediately conducted a search, until last night at 22:45 WITA," said SAR Post Coordinator Samarinda Riqi Effendi, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 30.
Marwah, who lives on Jalan DI Panjaitan, RT 15, Gunung Lingai Village, Sungai Pinang District, Samarinda City on Thursday, at 16.45 WITA, played in a flood situation with his brother in front of the house.
The victim's family even had time to record a video when the two brothers were playing in the flood right in front of the house with the wooden fence in front of the house closed, before the incident.
This video is 12 seconds long. It is not known when and why they left the fence of their house to play floods near the drainage.
While playing with the flood, the victim slipped because of the swift flow of water. The victim was dragged into the culvert in front of the house.
After searching by entering the sewers which were still full of water since the afternoon, at 22:45 WITA, the joint SAR team managed to find the victim about 300 meters from the scene of the incident dead. The victim was then taken to the funeral home.
"At 23.00 WITA, the joint SAR team held a small meeting. After the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was proposed to be closed and all SAR elements returned to their respective units to continue preparedness," he said.
