JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan decided not to run as a candidate for Governor of West Java. This answers questions about the news that Anies was offered the West Java gubernatorial election by the PDI-P (PDIP).

Anies' spokesman, Sahrin Hamid, said that the reason Anies decided not to participate in the 2024 Pilkada contestation in West Java was because there were no aspirations from the people of West Java themselves.

"Indeed, West Java does not specifically have partnerships from community members or aspirations from political parties at the regional level or at the regional level," said Sahrin when met at Jalan Brawijaya X, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 29.

So far, Anies' request to run for the 2024 Pilkada is only in the DKI Jakarta area. According to Sahrin, this aspiration has been revealed by many Jakarta residents, to regional party officials who have previously proposed his name.

"With various considerations, of course, Mas Anies decided not to run in West Java. God willing, tomorrow there will be a special delivery for the needs of the community or the public," said Sahrin.

Later, the issue that developed was that PDIP wanted to carry Anies forward in the West Java gubernatorial election, after canceling it in the Jakarta Pilkada for offering his own cadre, namely Pramono Anung-Rano Karno.

The chairman of the West Java PDIP DPD, Ono Surono, said this afternoon that his party would surprise him about the candidate for governor and deputy governor of West Java. Ono also asked West Java residents for prayers so that PDIP could register the Paslon with the West Java KPU on the last day.

Ono said West Java is a large area with the largest voting rights in Indonesia. Currently, he said, PDIP is currently still working on the pair of candidates for governor and deputy governor very carefully and carefully to produce leaders who can solve problems in West Java.

"For the Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of West Java who will be promoted are figures who will surprise the people of West Java," Ono told reporters, Thursday, August 29.

"So this figure is a figure that will be accepted by the people of West Java, even though the person concerned may not be a PDI-P cadre and the pairing could be from other parties," he continued.
