DKI KPU Affirms Political Parties Can't Revoke The Support Of Cagub-Cawagub Who Has Registered

JAKARTA - Member of the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU), Dody Wijaya, emphasized that no political party carrying the prospective Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta who has registered can revoke its support. Although, the registration period for regional head candidates is still open until August 29 at 23.59 local time. "It can't, yes (revocational of the suspension at the prospective Jakarta governor-cawagub candidates who have registered)," said Dody in a short message, Thursday, August 29. Dody stated that the ban was contained in Article 43 of Law Number 1 of 2015 concerning the Pilkada. In Article 43 paragraph (1) it is stated, political parties or coalitions of political parties are prohibited from attracting candidates and/or candidates are prohibited from resigning from being counted as candidates at the Provincial KPU or KPU regencies/cities. Then, in paragraph (2), in terms of political parties or coalitions of political parties withdrawing their candidates or candidates resigning as referred to in paragraph (1), political parties or coalitions of nominated political parties cannot propose replacement candidates. Today, two pairs of Jakarta cagub-cawagub have registered with the KPU. Pramono Anung-Rano Karno was the first to visit the DKPU DKI Jakarta Office, supported by PDI Perjuangan (PDIP). Following, Ridwan Kamil (RK)-Suswono arrived at the DKPU Office as the second candidate who registered for the Jakarta gubernatorial election. It is planned that, the pair of individual or independent routes, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana will register at the KPU on August 29 evening. The KPU has scheduled Pramono-Rano to undergo a medical examination at the Tarakan Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Central Jakarta, starting at 07.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono pair are scheduled to undergo a health check the next day on August 31 at the same time. The DKI Jakarta KPU stated that all the requirements included by Pramono-Rano and RK-Suswono were complete. Furthermore, the KPU began to verify the registration administration until September 5, 2024.
