JAKARTA - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that ten regions in Indonesia have the potential to experience light rain, Thursday, August 29.

BMKG forecaster Sekar Anggraeni, said that a number of these areas were Medan (North Sumatra), Bengkulu City, Serang (Banten), Bandung (West Java) and Samarinda (East Kalimantan). "Next, Palangkaraya (Central Kalimantan), Palu (Central Sulawesi), Ternate (North Maluku), Sorong (West Papua), and Manokwari (West Papua)," said Sekar. In addition to light rain, he also said that there are two areas that have the potential to rain with moderate intensity, namely Nabire City, Papua and Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains.

Meanwhile, rain accompanied by lightning is expected to occur in the cities of Palembang, South Sumatra, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Manado, North Sulawesi and Ambon, Maluku.

"Then, heavy rains are predicted to flush Mamuju, West Sulawesi," he added.

Furthermore, BMKG predicts that thick cloudy weather conditions will occur in nine areas, namely Banda Aceh, Aceh; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Jakarta; Semarang, Central Java; Surabaya, East Java; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Gorontalo; Makassar, South Sulawesi and Merauke, Papua.

Meanwhile, cloudy weather conditions are predicted to occur in Pekanbaru, Riau; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; DI Yogyakarta; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara and Denpasar, Bali. "Next, conditions of runaway air or foggy air are predicted to occur in Padang, West Sumatra; Jambi; Lampung; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi and Jayapura, Papua," said Sekar.

According to him, the weather information is a general picture of the weather in each region in Indonesia.
