Jokowi Encourages DPR To Complete Asset Confiscation Bill

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo urged the DPR to immediately complete the discussion and ratification of the Asset Confiscation Law, which he said was urgent.

"I appreciate the DPR's quick steps in responding to the developing situation (revision of the Pilkada Law). A quick response is a good thing, very good, and that hope can also be applied to other things as well, which is urgent, for example, such as the Asset Confiscation Law Draft," Jokowi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.

Jokowi said that the Asset Confiscation Bill is very important for eradicating corruption in Indonesia, so it is hoped that it can be resolved by the DPR soon.

The President also observed the demonstrations carried out by the public regarding the Pilkada Law. He considered the delivery of good aspirations in democracy.

The President appreciated this, but asked for the delivery of the aspirations to be carried out in an orderly and peaceful manner, so as not to harm and not interfere with other community activities.

President Jokowi also observed that several protesters were arrested by the police during the action. He asked the protesters to be released immediately.
