PDIP Ensures That Risma Will Be Khofifah's Challenger In The East Java Gubernatorial Election, The Deputy Governor's Candidate Is Still Being Discussed

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P DPP Said Abdullah confirmed that his party will carry the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini who is also the former mayor of Surabaya as a candidate for governor in the 2024 East Java (East Java) Pilkada.

"In East Java, Mrs. Rismainsya Allahconfirm," Said was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.

PDIP is expected to officially announce its support for Risma to run in the 2024 East Java Pilkada on Wednesday (28/8) tomorrow.

"Hopefully as a cadre as Chairman of the East Java DPD, I hope that tomorrow the party's DPP can be announced," he said.

However, Said said that the figure of the candidate for deputy governor who will accompany Risma is still being discussed by PDIP with various other parties, including the National Awakening Party (PKB).

"In the end, it is still in the process of being discussed to reach the stage of being the cawagub accompanying Mbak Risma," he said.

Just like DKI Jakarta, he said that East Java will also be announced not at the beginning of the registration time for the 2024 Pilkada, which has been open since Tuesday today.

"We are just the beginning of registration on 27 (August), we still have the opportunity until the 29th, and for us what we are paying attention to is 38 provinces, not only DKI, because this is still the beginning, let's wait, like DKI, like East Java, it is still in process," he said.

If Risma advances in the 2024 East Java Pilkada, she and her companions will face Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Dardak.

The incumbent pair have received support from nine political parties, namely the Democratic Party, the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the United Development Party (PPP), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the National Democratic Party (NasDem).
