Police Thwart Delivery Of 18 Kg More Methamphetamine From West Kalimantan To Surabaya

The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Central Java Police thwarted the shipment of 18.7 kg of methamphetamine from West Kalimantan to Surabaya.

Central Java Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Agus Suryonugroho, said that the methamphetamine stored in the two suitcases was carried by a passenger with the initials MNA who got off at Tanjung Emas Port Semarang on August 23, 2024.

The two suitcases, he said, were then handed over to IS who was waiting at the port for further travel to Surabaya by land.

In addition to methamphetamine, he continued, the suitcase also stored 2,424 ecstasy pills.

From the results of the examination, according to him, the suspect MNA had sent methamphetamine three times from Kalimantan to Surabaya.

"The first shipment was 15 kg in January, then 5 kg in May," Agus was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.

MNA, who works as a student, continued he, knew that the goods he brought from Kalimantan to Semarang using the ship were methamphetamine.

Furthermore, he said, investigators will investigate the origin of the dozens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine to the destination of Surabaya.

Agus added that the failure to send dozens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was able to save 96 thousand lives to avoid the dangers of drugs.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning drugs.
