Sukabumi Police Satreskrim arrested a person with a mental disorder (ODGJ) in Gununghiur Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java after killing a female farmer.

"The arrest of the alleged perpetrator was assisted by residents and currently the man has been secured at the Lengkong Police Headquarters, but this case has been taken over by the Sukabumi Police Satreskrim," said Lengkong Police Chief AKP Bayu Sunarti, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 26.

According to information gathered from the police, the alleged murder case that occurred in Bantarsari Village, Pabuaran District began when the alleged perpetrator recurred and went berserk at his home and had a fight with a resident which resulted in the residents being injured.

After that, the alleged perpetrator then went to the agricultural area which then ran into a woman who was about to return from farming.

The ODGJ then carried out an attack and took a scratch or fork of the woman's hand.

Without mercy, the suspect stabbed and hit the victim with his scratched to death at the scene.

After killing the woman who had just farmed, the man tried to escape and was chased by residents who saw the incident.

The alleged perpetrator had become an angry resident, but not long after, officers from the Lengkong Police arrived at the location and immediately secured the ODGJ from the tantrums of the masses.

As a result of the anger of the man suspected of ODGJ, a resident was injured and had received treatment from a medical officer at the Pabuaran Health Center and another victim, a woman, died.

In other information obtained from residents in November 2023, the alleged perpetrator once went berserk and set fire to his own house, so residents and their families agreed to be taken to Marzoeki Mahdi Bogor Hospital (National Mental Health Center) for medical treatment.

After being declared healthy, he was returned to his hometown, residents and his family thought the man was healthy, but it turned out that he had relapsed and went berserk, causing casualties and injuries.
