Affirming Support For Prabowo, Surya Paloh Says NasDem Doesn't Demand Ministerial Regulation

JAKARTA - Chairman of the NasDem Party DPP Surya Paloh emphasized the attitude of his party to support the future government which will be led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto with the elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

In front of President Joko Widodo and around 10,300 cadres who attended the third Congress of the NasDem Party in JCC Jakarta, Sunday night, Surya Paloh expressed that NasDem's support for the new government was not followed by demands of ministerial allocation to Prabowo.

"This party seeks to maintain its dignity and integrity, not as a weighing party for the government it supports. However, God willing, it will try to become a burden for the government it supports. It is not a matter of the ministerial seat expected by this party," said Surya Paloh when giving a mandate in the III Congress of the NasDem Party.

He continued that NasDem would respect the Prabowo-Gibran government when they considered party ideas and ideas.

"When the idea, our thoughts are heard, and especially if we can run it, that's what the NasDem Party is fighting for," said Surya Paloh, quoted by Antara.

On that occasion, Surya Paloh also emphasized that NasDem would continue to support the government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin until the end of his tenure on October 20, 2024.

"At the end of his term of office, President Jokowi will remain a friend of NasDem. We hope that his service will continue for the benefit of this nation and state," Surya Paloh told President Jokowi who attended the congress event.

The third Congress of the 2024 NasDem Party was opened by President Joko Widodo who was present wearing a blue shirt typical of the NasDem Party.

The President, in the event also had a speech, and said that NasDem was a party that consistently supported him when he ran in the presidential election (pilpres) for two terms, namely the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.

In the congress event, several leaders of political parties were present, one of which was the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Bahlil Lahadalia, then there were also politicians who were promoted by NasDem during the 2024 presidential election, Anies Baswedan.
