Safe Humanitarian Zone Is Increasingly Shrinking, Security Of Civilians In Gaza Is Threatened

GAZA - Israel has again shown its barbarity to the international community by turning a'safe humanitarian zone' for civilians in the Gaza Strip into piles of debris and dust.

The army force from the country led by Benjamin Netanyahu left 9.5 percent for areas categorized as safe.

The Palestinian Civil Defense Department said the small remaining safe humanitarian zone would not be able to accommodate refugees, the majority of whom were civilians. The determination of the humanitarian zone is safe to start after Israel expelled hundreds of thousands of civilians from northern Gaza to southern Gaza. And then the North Gaza region is claimed to be a "safe humanitarian zone."

"Initially, the zone covered 230 square kilometers or 63 percent of the total Gaza region, including agricultural land and commercial, economic, and service facilities spread across an area of 120 square kilometers," the Palestinian Civil Defense Representative was quoted as saying by VOI from Anodalu, Sunday, August 25.

As Israeli military attacks continued, the size of the safe zone was shrinking. The representative added that in early December 2023, following an Israeli attack on Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the designated humanitarian area had been reduced to 140 square kilometers, covering 38.3 percent of the total Gaza region.

"This area includes several agricultural lands, as well as economic, commercial and service buildings. Further reductions occurred in May 2024, during Israel's attack on Rafah, when the humanitarian zone shrunk to 79 square kilometers, or 20 percent of the total Gaza region," the statement added.
