Appointed As Chairman Again, Cak Imin: PKB Must Be Independent Party

JAKARTA - Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin was re-elected as Chairman of the National Awakening Party for the period 2024-2029. He stated that his party must become an independent party in the future.

Cak Imin made the statement after a number of PKB Regional Leadership Councils expressed support for him at the PKB Congress and requested that his party be independent of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board.

"Indeed, the discussion among the PBNU momentum kiai does not support PKB during yesterday's election, and produces good results, in fact it is a blessing for PKB to be truly independent and independent. Because after being independent and independent, PKB no longer depends on any institution or organization," said Cak Imin at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Badung Regency, Bali, Saturday, August 24.

Meanwhile, he considered that the mandate to lead PKB again for the next five years was a tough thing. However, he said that he would work as hard as he could.

Therefore, he said that in the short term, all stages of the 2024 Pilkada would be successful by mobilizing all components of the party, namely cadres to members of the legislature.

"Second, the short term is to be part of the transition of power in October. The new DPRD, the new DPR RI, the new President," he said.

On that occasion, he also said that the chairman of the PKB Shura Council for the period 2024-2029, namely Ma'ruf Amin, invited himself to consistently fight.

"And I am happy, proud, grateful that KH Ma'ruf Amin was appointed by the kiai to become chairman of the syuro council and at the same time willing to jointly strengthen the PKB DPP," he said.
