Collaboration With UGM, Garuda Indonesia Optimizes Southeast Maluku Potential

Langgur - Garuda Indonesia national airline collaborated with the Real Working Lecture Group for Community Empowerment Learning from Gadjah Mada University (KKN-PPM UGM) to optimize the potential of Southeast Maluku.

Optimization of this potential is carried out through the Social and Environmental Responsibility Synergy Program (TJSL) entitled Festival Pesona Manyeuw 2024. The inauguration of the community service program was held at the Hoat Tamngil Ekotourism, Manyeuw District, Southeast Maluku, Saturday, August 24.

The TJSL program is a follow-up to the implementation of the Garuda Indonesia PKBL Program with the UGM KKN-PPM Team which has been implemented since 2023 in Hoat Sorayy District, Southeast Maluku Regency.

In the program, Garuda Indonesia and the UGM KKN-PPM Team organize various community empowerment programs such as planting 2,734 mangrove seeds at Dian Wakat Park, cultivation 2,654 black sollier fly seedlings, training and development of seaweed and embalming MSME products, free general health checks and teeth, and closed with the holding of the Soray Bay Cultural and Culinary Festival.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra said the community empowerment program and environmental concern organized by the company as a form of Garuda Indonesia's commitment to be actively involved in asserting the mission as a green airline'.

Irfan said that the various TJSL programs that are implemented at any time are not only an implementation of the company's mission as part of SOEs alone, but are a sustainable initiative in order to make a maximum contribution to environmental sustainability in order to create a better life for the people of Indonesia.

On the other hand, continued Irfan, this program is not only a tangible manifestation of the contribution to environmental sustainability, but is also implemented to be able to help local communities advance to class through infrastructure development, use of regional potential, training MSMEs and the implementation of other community empowerment programs.

"We hope that these programs can create competitive people so that they can increase their standard of living and economy," said Irfan at Hoat Tamngil Ekotourism, Manyeuw District, Southeast Maluku, Saturday, August 24.

Irfan hopes that various corporate initiatives and strategic actions in the form of the TJSL Program synergy carried out by Garuda Indonesia together with the UGM KKN-PPM Team will not only have an impact on environmental sustainability and an increase in the economic activity of the local community, but can also trigger various other collaborations.

"Especially in order to raise mutual awareness to work hand in hand to advance the welfare of the people throughout Indonesia," said Irfan.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Arie Sujito, revealed that UGM's cooperation with Garuda Indonesia had been going on for a long time.

In 2023 to 2024, he continued, there will be strategic cooperation in the form of the TJSL program synergy which is implemented together with one of the UGM community service and empowerment programs, namely KKN-PPM.

"The TJSL synergy with SOEs is an innovative breakthrough so that the TJSL program can be implemented closer to the community and more sustainable, because the UGM KKN-PPM always involves the community in every chain of program implementation processes," said Arie.

Acting Regent of Southeast Maluku Regency, Jamono, expressed his gratitude to Garuda Indonesia and UGM. He supports this cooperation in community service and empowerment to be maintained and improved in the future.

"Garuda Indonesia has made a significant contribution to the development of Southeast Maluku since 2018. This TJSL synergy is a form of Garuda Indonesia's real contribution to the development of the Kei Islands as one of Indonesia's most southeastern border areas," said Jamono.

For your information, several TJSL programs carried out by Garuda Indonesia together with the UGM KKN-PPM Team throughout June to August 2024 include a revitalization program for drinking water and irrigation infrastructure (REVISION), the Manyeuw Reading program, a hatchling release program for the conservation of green turtle habitat, and a coral reef rehabilitation program in the waters of the Ten Islands.

Then, program a thousand mangrove trees for Manyeuw, free health program, Manyeuw Semangat Eradication Stunting program, program thousand books for Manyeuw, program installation of rainwater harvesting installations, and closed with the Pesona Manyeuw Festival program.

The Pesona Manyeuw Festival is a cultural and culinary festival that presents tourism charm consisting of drama and local dance performances, Kei cultural diversity, and culinary delights made by the community, 200 lantern flights, as well as exhibitions for MSME products fostered by the UGM KKN-PPM Team and Garuda Indonesia.
