PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said his party was still waiting for the final decision from General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to announce the candidate for regional head who was promoted in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. This was conveyed by Hasto during the reading of the names of candidates for regional heads promoted by PDIP at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Thursday, August 22. "For Jakarta, we are still waiting for an announcement from the General Chairperson," said Hasto as quoted by Antara. Today, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri officially announced 169 candidates for regional heads who will be promoted in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada. The announcement of the second wave was made in a hybrid manner. Of the 169 candidates for regional head consist of six candidates for governor and deputy governor candidate, 151 candidates for regent and deputy regent candidate, as well as 12 candidates for mayor and vice mayor candidate. The six candidates for governor and deputy governor who are officially promoted by PDIP for the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada include: 1. Riau Islands: Muhammar Rudi-H. Aunur Rafiq; 2. Jambi: Al Haris-Abdullah Sani; 3. Kep. Bangka Belitung: Hidayat Arsani-Heliana; 4. Bali: Wayan Koster-I Nyoman Giri Prasta; 5. Central Papua: Meki Nawipa-Deinas Geley; 6. South Papua: Apolo Safanto-Paskalis Imagawa; This announcement was made in front of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and the PDIP DPP ranks, including General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey, Deputy Secretary General Yoseph Aryo Adhie Darmo and Adian Napitupulu, as well as PDIP DPP Chairmen, namely Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Deddy Sitorus, Komarudin Watubun, Said Abdullah, Rano Karno, Sri Rahayu, Ribka Tjiptaning, and Nusyirwan Soedjono. Megawati's son who is also the Chair of the DPIP DPP for Creative Economy Prananda Prabowo was also seen. Constitutional law expert who is also the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mahfud Md was also present at the event. After reading, representatives of candidates for regional heads who are promoted receive the submission of Decree (SK) from the PDIP DPP. Megawati accompanied by her son Prananda Prabowo handed over the decree directly to the candidates for regional head. The announcement of 169 candidates for regional heads from PDIP is the second wave of three waves that will be carried out by the PDIP DPP in the face of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada. Previously, the PDI-P had announced the 305 candidates for regional heads who were promoted in the 2024 Pilkada when the announcement of the first wave was August 14.

The following is the schedule for the 2024 Pilkada: 1. February 27 – November 16, 2024: Notification and registration of election monitor; 2. April 24 – May 31, 2024: Submission of lists of potential voters; 3. May 5 – August 19, 2024: Fulfillment of the requirements for support for individual candidate pairs; 4. May 31 – September 23, 2024: Updating and compiling of voter lists; 5. August 24 – 26 2024: Announcement of registration of candidate pairs; 6. 27–29 August 2024: Candidate registration; 7. August 27 – September 21, 2024: Research on candidate requirements; 8. September 22, 2024: Determination of candidate pairs; 9. September 25 – November 23, 2024: Campaign implementation; 10. November 27, 2024: Implementation of voting; and 11. November 27 – December 16, 2024: Voice counting and recapitulation of vote count results.
