Reject The Revision Of The 2024 Pilkada Law, A Number Of Artists And Comics Come To The DPR Building

JAKARTA - A number of artists and comics visited the DPR/MPR building to participate in a demonstration against the ratification of the 2024 Pilkada Law revision on Thursday 22 August.

Quoted from social media x @jokoanwar, the comics arrived at around 10.20 WIB. It looks like they arrived simultaneously.

The comics who came, including Arie Kriting, Rigen, Bintang Emon, to Mamat Alkatiri. Meanwhile, the artist who came was Eka Kurniawan.

They came wearing all black clothes. They were also seen listening to speeches near the command car.

"Indonesia Raya reverberates in Senayan, voiced by people who still have a conscience," Joko tweeted.

The Constitutional Court on Tuesday (20/8/2024) decided on two crucial decisions related to the stages of nomination of regional heads, namely decisions Number 60/PUU/XXII/2024 and 70/PUU-XXII/2024. Decision Number 60/PUU/XXII/2024 changes the threshold for candidacy for political parties or coalitions of political parties to nominate pairs of candidates for regional heads and candidates for regional heads. Decision Number 70/PUU-XXII/2024 confirms the minimum age limit for regional head candidates is calculated since the determination of candidate pairs by the General Election Commission (KPU).

The decision invalidated the previous Supreme Court (MA) decision which stated that the age limit was calculated since the elected candidate pair was sworn in.

However, on Wednesday, the Legislation Body of the DPR and the government approved to continue discussing the Draft Law (RUU) on Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Laws (UU for Regional Head Elections/Pilkada), at the nearest DPR plenary meeting to be ratified into law.
