Iran Ensures Israel Can't Suspect Ways And Time To Retaliate Ismail Haniyeh's Murder

JAKARTA - Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations said Tehran would plan carefully and how to respond to the Israeli assassination of the Head of Political Bureau Hamas Ismail Haniyeh, to ensure "maximum shocks" and "preventions" are reached.

"The timing, conditions and ways of responding to Iran will be carefully regulated to ensure that it happens at the maximum shock, perhaps when their eyes are on the sky and the radar screen, they are shocked from the ground, and possibly a combination of both," the mission said in a statement late Wednesday. The mission said Iran would carefully calibrate its response "to avoid possible adverse effects that could potentially affect a prospective ceasefire."

The statement of Iran's mission to the United Nations in New York comes amid speculation over whether Iran deliberately delayed its response until the results of the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza were clear.

Last week, negotiations in Doha, Qatar, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, ended without a breakthrough. However, negotiations are said to continue this week in Cairo, Egypt.

Further explained, Iran's response has two objectives, punishing aggressors and increasing prevention.

"First, Iran must punish the aggressor for its acts of terrorism and violations of Iran's national sovereignty. Second, Iran must enhance Iran's preventive ability to cause deep regret in the Israeli regime, thus serving as a deterrent to any repetition of aggression in the future," the statement said.

Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran with a bodyguard, a day after attending the inauguration of the elected president Masoud Pezeshkian on July 31, according to a statement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).

Quoting Mehr, the IRGC said in a statement that the murder of Ismail Haniyeh was "designed and carried out by the Zionist regime and supported by the American criminal government."
