JAKARTA - Buses carrying a group of Pakistani pilgrims capsized in Iran, killing 28 passengers and injuring 23 others.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 20 evening in Yazd province, Iran. The accident is thought to have been caused by technical damage to the bus braking system, according to an initial investigation conducted by Iranian traffic police.
11 women and 17 men were killed in this accident. Seven injured people are in critical condition and six injured people have now left the hospital, "said the director-general of the Yazd provincial crisis management to state TV.

Pakistan's consular service in Iran has been invited to Yazd province to follow up on the accident.
