Adian Sindir Jokowi Removes Yasonna: Does It Turn Old Friends Into New Habits?

JAKARTA - Deputy Secretary General for Communication of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Adian Napitupulu quipped President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s decision to reshuffle the cabinet by dismissing Yasonna Laoly from the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

Adian reminded that the chairman of the PDIP DPP has worked with Jokowi as Minister of Law and Human Rights since 2014 or from the beginning of his administration.

"This means that it is important, what is this decision-making for? Has Yasonna been with Jokowi for 2 periods since 2014, has he exchanged old friends with new friends with a habit?" said Adian at the PDIP DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 19.

Adian assessed that the cabinet reshuffle ahead of the end of Jokowi's leadership in the next two months is also not based on the need for solving problems in the community, but on the basis of personal interests alone.

* Does this reshuffle solve the problem of unemployment, poverty, factory closures, many layoffs? Does this reshuffle also answer the challenges for students of education as an existing problem, or is this reshuffle only answering the interests of power?" said Adian.

Meanwhile, PDIP DPP chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat suspects that there is a political reason behind Yasonna's removal from his position. According to Djarot, Jokowi replaced the position of Minister of Law and Human Rights because Yasonna previously ratified the extension of the PDIP management period for the next year until 2025 did not pass the permission of the head of state.

"Because Pak Yasona may have been reprimanded for not asking the president for approval of the extension of the party's DPP management yesterday. Because the approval of the party management must go through the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," said Djarot. Then, Djarot suspected that another reason Yasonna was dismissed because he was present at the PDIP announcement to Edy Rahmayadi as a candidate for Governor of North Sumatra in Medan some time ago.

As previously reported, President Joko Widodo officially inaugurated Supratman Andi Agtas as Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) replacing Yasonna. The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Jakarta today, Monday, August 19 at 09.30 WIB.

This procession begins by reading out the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 92/P of 2024 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of State Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet for the 2019-2024 Period. After that, Jokowi took the oath of office of minister.
