JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin believes that the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Supratman Andi Agtas will not mess with the PKB Congress which will soon be held.

Cak Imin is optimistic that the government will obey the constitution in responding to the PKB conflict and the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board.

He emphasized that PKB and PBNU are two different organizations regulated in different laws.

"I am sure that the government will be consistent with the constitution, the reference is laws and the electoral law system so that it cannot be played around. If you are playing games, the state will destroy," said Cak Imin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 19.

Muhaimin also assessed that the reshufflekabinet on Monday is the prerogative of the president. Even though it only leaves 2 months, President Joko Widodo still has the authority to replace his ministers.

"The president has calculated and prerogative is used, so there is no comment whatsoever, I have no analysis, it is purely the authority of the President," said the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Regarding the issue of the counter congress or the Extraordinary PKB Congress conveyed by the Chairman of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf, Muhaimin said that PBNU could not make jokes.

PKB emphasized that it belongs to Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), but PKB does not belong to PBNU which is filled by only a handful of people.

"PKB belongs to NU for the benefit of the Indonesian people, not PBNU, not people per person, let alone Muhaimin, no," he said.

President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin were also invited to the PKB Congress which is scheduled for August 24, 2024 in Bali.
