The Red And White Light Decorates Los Angeles City Hall To Enliven The 79th Anniversary Of The Republic Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles, United States, expressed his appreciation to the Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass for turning on the red and white lights at Los Angeles City Hall to enliven the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the city. "This red and white lights are an honor for the citizens and the Indonesian diaspora in the city of Los Angeles and its surroundings," said the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Los Angeles, Purnomo A. Chandra, through a press release on Saturday, August 17th. "This shows recognition for the existence of the Indonesian community which brings positive benefits and contributions to the city of Los Angeles," he added. Installation of the red and white lights was a form of congratulations on the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia prepared by the city of Los Angeles, and this was the first time it was carried out at the LA City Hall which had been established since 1928 and located at the heart of the city of LA. The lighting began during the sunset on Friday 16 August at around 20.00 to 17 August 2024 in the early hours of local time. However, the Indonesian people have been enthusiastically gathered since the day it was still bright in the park across City Hall, Gloria Molina Grand Park. Other staff and ranks at the Indonesian Consulate General in LA and members of the KJRI LA who have just been inaugurated also enjoyed the decoration of the lights with their families. The Indonesian community from all over the city came back and forth throughout the night to witness the important and historic events firsthand. One of the Indonesian diaspora named Herlina Habib who had lived for 19 years in Los Angeles said that the lighting of the red and white lights at City Hall in the context of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia showed better diplomacy. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Consultative Committee for the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of the Republic of Indonesia in Los Angeles, Consul Charles Hutapea, said that the series of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia commemoration would be continued on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Indonesian Consulate of the LA with a series of Proclamation Seconds of Seconds Commemandations.

The event continued with the Merdeka Good Stage and the Indonesian culinary bazaar. Previously, on August 3, 2024, the Indonesian Consulate General also held a Merdeka Good Competition with various matches attended by the local Indonesian community.
