COVID-19 Task Force Asks Schools That Have Opened Transparent To Report Case Transmission

JAKARTA - The government has allowed face-to-face learning. A number of regions have also conducted trials for opening schools by implementing health protocols in learning activities.

Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito asked education units such as schools to universities to report transparently if there is a case of transmission in their environment.

"Every report made will be a valuable input in the stage of expanding the opening of the education sector and other sectors. Therefore, the transparency factor plays a very important role," said Wiku in a YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday, March 25.

In preparation for the opening of the school, Wiku said that there are five principles that must be followed. The first is preconditions or efforts to adapt to new habits.

"The government is trying to ensure the adaptation process runs well through socialization and supporting infrastructure facilities to facilitate the community," he said.

The second stage is determining the right time to open the school. This refers to epidemiological data, the readiness of educational institutions, and the availability of health facilities.

The third is priority setting, which includes an opening simulation by pilot institutions as learning materials for other institutions to gradually expand their scope.

"Ensure that the simulation is carried out by all elements involved, covering every aspect of learning activities from leaving to returning home. Because, transmission opportunities can occur anywhere," explained Wiku.

The fourth stage is coordination of mutual implementation between the central and local governments. Among them are the health office, the education office, as well as educational institutions and students' parents.

"Good coordination is the key to identifying problems as early as possible so that solutions can be found immediately with mutual cooperation between community and governmental elements," explained Wiku.

The fifth stage is monitoring and evaluation of monitoring of learning and evaluation activities, in accordance with the COVID-19 control scenario and gas and brake policy principles.

"For educational institutions that have opened, please continue to be vigilant with the current situation and prepare to be tightened again if needed in regular screening," he concluded.
