Vice President's Traditional Clothing Inspired By The Community In The Kapuas River

JAKARTA - The traditional clothes of Pontianak, West Kalimantan from the Sambas Malay Tribe worn by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin while attending the commemoration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, were inspired by the people living in the Kapuas River.

Reported by ANTARA, based on information received from the Vice Presidential Secretariat, the Vice President wore a gold Belanga Bay suit combined with an insang sarong with a matching color on the waist and wore a head covering commonly called Tanjak.

The insang feature on the cloth worn by the Vice President is inspired by the people of Pontianak who live along the Kapuas River.

Departing from this inspiration, fish insang is used as a medium of art expression and gives the meaning of symbols of breath, life, and continues to move, and is an expression of love for nature and the environment as well as a dynamic everyday life spirit.

Thus, the philosophical meaning of the traditional clothes worn by the Vice President this Saturday in general symbolizes glory for all of Indonesia, a symbol in welcoming Indonesia Gold 2045, not only for humans but also for all of its resources.

On the other hand, the selection of Pontianak traditional clothes, West Kalimantan also symbolizes Indonesia's diversity.

As is known, at the celebration of the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022 the Vice President and Wury Ma'ruf Amin wore traditional Banten clothing, West Java.

Then, in 2023 wearing traditional Koto Gadang clothing, West Sumatra where the entire fashion selection has its own philosophy.

At the moment of commemorating this independence day, the Vice President conveyed a message to all Indonesians to continue to join hands to build an Advanced Indonesia at every opportunity.

"I hope we can take advantage of every opportunity that exists to continue to advance Indonesia, both in the fields of economy, education, health, and technology," said the Vice President through a video recording published by the Vice Presidential Secretariat.

Through the hard work, innovation, and strong synergy of all elements of the nation, the Vice President also believes that Indonesia can achieve a better future.

In addition to the morning ceremony, in the afternoon the Vice President and Wury Ma'ruf Amin are also scheduled to attend the Red and White Flag Lowering Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard, Jakarta, Saturday.
