ID Cards Of DKI Residents Profited To Support Independent Paslon, Puan: KPU Must Immediately Investigate

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Regional General Elections Commission (KPUD) to immediately investigate the issue of ID cards of DKI citizens who were accused of supporting the prospective con-independent pair in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"The parties involved, of course, have to straighten it out and then explain if it's true, tell me that, if that's wrong, tell me later there will be a KPU and a KPU that will process it," said Puan in response to reporters' questions at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Friday, August 16.

The case emerged from the X Raisa Rifat social media account. Raisa was surprised to be approached by KPU officers who wanted to verify factually because her Population Identification Number (NIK) was listed as a supporter of the Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana pair as a condition for registering in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election, through an independent route.

It turns out that there are many similar cases experienced by other DKI residents. This fact was revealed from netizens' tweets on social media X.

Furthermore, Puan was then asked about the issue of an empty box in the DKI Pilgub. The Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) is trying to enlarge the coalition members as KIM Plus.

Currently, a number of political parties (political parties) outside KIM have expressed interest in joining, such as PKS, PPP, Perindo, and PKB. KIM Plus plans to carry Ridwan Kamil in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

If PKS and PKB decide to join KIM Plus, then it can be ascertained that there is no candidate pair (paslon) for governor and other deputy governors who can get tickets from political parties for the DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

Puan then reminded that the election should be carried out honestly, fairly, freely and confidentially.

"Yes, we urge all parties to be able to carry out the Pilkada in the future as well as possible, to be honest and free and confidential," explained the first woman who served as chairman of the DPR.

Puan's appeal was in line with her speech at the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD RI in 2024 this morning. At the Joint Session, she emphasized the 2024 election process which was considered to be autocritical (self-correction).

Puan also expressed her appreciation to the 10 years of government of President Jokowi and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'aruf Amin. He considered that the Jokowi government had tried it as much as possible.

"What has been done by the current government for 10 years, I think I have tried my best to be able to prosper the people and then raise Indonesia," said Puan.

Puan said that every government is impossible to run perfectly. But surely the leaders have done their best for the people of Indonesia.

"But there is no perfect government, so we appreciate it with all its strengths and disadvantages for the 10 years of Pak Jokowi and Pak Ma'aruf's administration. We have done the best for Indonesia," said Puan.
