CimaHI - Cimahi Police, West Java, revealed the motive of the husband who had the heart to kill his wife in a house and then left to rot for 7 days wrapped in plastic.
Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Tri Suhartanto said the motive for killing victim Zakilah Indri Winata (21) was because of emotion when he saw a man's intimate message on his wife's cellphone. Jealous, the perpetrator named Sahir (24) was also involved in an argument that killed Zakilah.
"The perpetrator admitted to committing this heinous act because of the offense and being jealous of the perpetrator of the victim who is his wife. The perpetrator had read and saw that there was a message from one of the people that the perpetrator was noisy, started to get out of control of his emotions, then committed heinous acts," Tri said in Cimahi, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 15.
After killing, Sahir wrapped the victim in plastic and left lying for one week in his room until it was found by the police on Tuesday (13/8).
"The victim was smothered, strangled to the point of weakness, then put in a sack and wrapped in plastic until when the victim looked weak and died," he said.
To disguise the foul smell of the victim's body, the perpetrator deliberately sowed coffee powder and clothing fragrances so that there was no suspicion of murder in the house.
"The position is ready for the package, it's wrapped, it's tied, it's been given a clothes fragrance, it's been given coffee so it doesn't smell bad," said Tri.
Tri further revealed that the perpetrator had thought about throwing his wife's body which had rotted for several days in his room.
"This perpetrator is looking for a gap so that there is time, there is a right time to be able to take this body which has been wrapped out, then thrown it somewhere," he said.
The perpetrator did not have time to dispose of the victim's body because residents were suspicious of a foul smell coming from the suspect's house, then reported it to the police until they found Zakilah's body from Sahir's room.
"Maybe if it is not found immediately or not, it will be immediately discovered, maybe this perpetrator will dispose of it immediately," said Tri.
For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
