PKB Will Announce Cagub-Cawagub Jakarta And East Java Before The 6th Congress

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP National Awakening Party (PKB) Ahmad Iman Sukri said that his party would officially announce which candidates for governor-deputy will be promoted in the Pilkada of Jakarta and East Java before the implementation of the 6th Congress.

PKB will hold a congress on August 24-25, 2024 in Bali. Iman estimates that in the next week, the names of candidates to be promoted in the Jakarta and East Java gubernatorial elections have been announced.

"We'll see, the development and dynamics this week. Before the congress, everything will be completed," said Iman at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 12.

Iman said that the announcement of the election nomination in strategic provinces, especially Jakarta and East Java, would also be accompanied by the formation of a coalition of supporting parties.

"My calculation is that on the 17th it has narrowed even more, including the couple and the coalition. At the latest on August 20," said Iman.

Regarding the dynamics of candidacy in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, Iman admitted that his party would follow PKS's steps if later officially withdraw support for Anies Baswedan to be carried in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. PKS did start giving signals that it would leave Anies.

In the nomination of the candidates for Governor-Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, 22 seats for the DKI Jakarta DPRD are needed from political parties (political parties) or coalition associations. Meanwhile, the PKB seat is not enough to carry Anies alone or join NasDem if he does not withdraw support for Anies.

"So if PKS doesn't go to Anies, automatically PKB can't (pronounce) because PKS is the winner, right. PKB seats 10, less," said Iman.

Iman also talked about the opportunity to form a coalition with the PDI-P (PDIP) in the Jakarta gubernatorial election to carry Anies. So far, PKB has not had any agreement with PDIP regarding the regional election coalition in Jakarta.

Therefore, even though the supporting seats are sufficient if they form a coalition with PDIP, Iman emphasized that it is not certain that PKB will carry Anies.

According to him, PKB and PDIP are more focused on designing a coalition for the East Java gubernatorial election. Communication to form a coalition with PDIP in the East Java gubernatorial election is said to be getting more intensive. Thus, Iman is optimistic that the candidate pair for the Governor-Deputy Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Dardak will not fight an empty box without a competitor in the 2024 Pilkada.

"So far, we will nominate our own cadres together with the PDIP. The point is PKB is like that. Moreover, PKB and PDI-P, if they unite in East Java, it's definitely not an empty box," explained Iman.

In the 2024 East Java DPRD legislative election, PKB became the winning party by obtaining 27 seats. Meanwhile, PDIP is in second place with 21 seats.

If PKB and PDIP form a coalition, Iman believes that the cagub-cawagub pair who will be promoted can compete with Khofifah-Emil even though the incumbent in the East Java Pilkada has received recommendations for the inauguration of 7 political parties (political parties), namely Gerindra, Golkar, Democrats, PAN, PKS, PPP, and PSI.

"So far, the spirit is still, yes. The winning PKB there, 27 seats, can actually carry itself. PDIP is second place," said Iman.
