Observer: Changing Leadership Of The Golkar Party Always Occurs In Unnormal Situations

Political observer Adi Prayitno said that Airlangga Hartarto's resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party raised a question mark.

"I think everyone is surprised by Airlangga's sudden and sudden resignation because so far the issue related to the extraordinary (national deliberation) has never been successful," Adi said in a statement received by Antara in Jakarta, Sunday.

According to him, the resignation was inversely proportional to Airlangga's leadership in the Golkar Party which made the seat acquisition in the 2024 General Election increase.

However, Adi said that Airlangga's resignation made the change of leadership in the Golkar Party always change in an unnatural situation.

Previously, he said, there had been an internal conflict when Setya Novanto was elected to serve as chairman of the party.

"If we look at the general trend, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party was always born from an abnormal situation. The General Chair of the Golkar Party before Airlangga, Setnov, became the chairman of the Golkar Party in the midst of Golkar's internal conflict at that time. If I'm not mistaken, there was an internal conflict between Aburizal Bakrie and Agung Laksono's camp," he explained.

He also reminded that Airlangga was elected general chairman when Setnov was dealing with legal problems.

In fact, he said, in 2004, Akbar Tanjung, who served as General Chair of the Golkar Party, and won the most legislative elections, had to be removed and replaced by Jusuf Kalla.

"These kinds of conditions actually make the change of the Golkar Ketum always beginning with an actual situation that is not normal and not conducive. So, if Airlangga suddenly resigns, yes, this will certainly prolong how successful the leadership in the Golkar Party is always marked by abnormal conditions," he said.
