Ensuring The 2022 Pilkada Schedule, The Aceh DPR Will Meet President Jokowi

JAKARTA - The Aceh People's Representative Council (DPR) will meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to ensure that the schedule and stages of the Aceh Pilkada can be held in 2022.

"I emphasize that the Aceh DPR and Acehnese community leaders and other stakeholders will meet with the President," said the chairman of the Aceh DPR, Dahlan Jamaluddin, in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, March 24.

The conclusions regarding the plan to meet the President were decided in a coordination meeting and affirmation of the joint stance regarding the implementation of the 2022 Aceh Regional Head Election between the Aceh DPR, the Aceh Government, and leaders of local and national political parties in Aceh.

Dahlan said, after the joint approval of this coordination meeting, his party would immediately discuss the schedule for visiting the President.

"We will immediately ensure that the meeting can take place between all stakeholders in Aceh and the President of the Republic of Indonesia," said Dahlan.

Dahlan said, the results of the agreement from the coordination meeting were also forwarded to the Governor of Aceh, to then jointly meet the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

In that meeting, the Aceh DPR will later convey to state officials regarding the provisions and norms contained in Law Number 11 of 2006 concerning the Government of Aceh (LoGA) or more specifically regarding the Aceh Pilkada.

"I think in this way our restlessness together and that of our fellow organizers from the Aceh KIP (Independent Election Commission) can be relieved. Including we are conveying other tactical matters," said the Aceh Party politician as well.
