JAKARTA - The Walz team said it was an honor for him to be elected as a vice presidential candidate by Kamala Harris, to fight in the United States presidential election which will be held next November.
"It's an honor for the rest of your life to join this campaign," Walz tweeted after his name was announced by Harris Tuesday on social media X, as quoted August 6.
"Vice President Harris pointed out to us what might happen in politics. This reminds me of the first day of school," he continued.

Previously, Walz and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro were said to be strong candidates for Harris's preferred vice president candidate.
"So let's finish this, friends! Join us," said Walz.
Harris himself praised Walz's figure for his role and what he had done in the past.

Walz, a 60-year-old US Army National Guard veteran and former teacher, was elected to the Republican US House of Representatives in 2006 and served for 12 years before being elected governor of Minnesota in 2018.
As governor, Walz has pushed for a progressive agenda that includes free school food, the goal of tackling climate change, cutting taxes for the middle class, and expanding paid leave for Minnesota workers.
She has long advocated for women's reproductive rights but has also shown a conservative trend when representing rural districts in the US House of Representatives, defending agricultural interests and supporting gun rights.
