10 Prosecutors Return To The Attorney General's Office, KPK Makes Sure Not To Disturb Corruption Case Prosecution

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the ongoing prosecution of corruption allegations was not disrupted even though 10 senior prosecutors were withdrawn to the Attorney General's Office. This is because the process is carried out in one team.

"Maybe if the head of the task force (kasatgas) is pulled, the prosecutor under it will replace it as a task force," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters, Tuesday, August 6.

Tessa said the prosecutor who was withdrawn would definitely be placed in a better position. He also called this step a form of refreshment.

"If there is no problem, I have the belief that it will be promoted to a better position," he said.

"So there is no connection with the completion of the duties of the prosecutors with the case being handled. In principle, it is only a refresher at the prosecutor's office so that there is a regeneration of prosecutors under which they can serve," said the spokesman with the investigator's background.

As previously reported, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) said that 10 senior prosecutors who were asked to go home had served for a long time at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The Adhyaksa Corps argued that the move was taken as a form of refreshment.

"It is true that there were 10 prosecutors who were asked to return to the Prosecutor's Office but did not suddenly. Indeed, it has entered the refresher program because they have served an average of 10 to 12 years on duty," said Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, when confirmed by reporters, Monday, August 5.

This request, continued Harli, was carried out not related to certain cases being handled by the anti-corruption commission. He said this refresher was normal to do.

"It has nothing to do with case handling, that's firm," he said.

Later, the AGO will send other prosecutors to the KPK to carry out the prosecution process. "The mechanism will be carried out as before," said Harli.
