2 Men Suspected of Subsidized Solar Offenders Arrested in Tanjungpinang, Still Witness Status

KEPRI - Police arrested two men suspected of being involved in a diesel fuel (BBM) launch at a public gas station (SPBU) in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri).

"Lori and the two men in it have been secured at the Tanjungpinang Police Headquarters," said Tanjungpinang Police Chief Kombes Pol Budi Santosa, Monday, August 5, confiscated by Antara.

The police chief stated that the alleged activity of launching subsidized fuel began with suspicion from the police who were patrolling the gas station on Saturday, August 3, to ensure that diesel distribution was right on target.

Then police officers found that at one of the gas stations there was a unit of lori lining up to fill up fuel and it was suspected that the diesel was launched, so that the Tanjungpinang Police immediately secured it.

However, he continued, the police have not been able to conclude whether the lori and the two arrested men were really involved in a case of lowering subsidized fuel or not.

"The examination is ongoing. The two people are still being examined as witnesses," said Budi.

Budi said that the actions taken by his staff were an effort to normalize the long queue situation for diesel fuel that had occurred at a number of Tanjungpinang gas stations recently.

In addition, the police have also deployed routine patrol personnel at gas stations throughout Tanjungpinang to monitor and prevent misuse in the distribution of diesel fuel.

"We monitor and continue to socialize the rules, so that people can maximize which ones are subsidized fuel, and which ones are fuel for industrial purposes," he said.

The Head of Police also appreciated the launch of a subsidized fuel card by the Tanjungpinang City Government in collaboration with Bank Bukopin as an effort to prevent long queues of diesel charging vehicles at gas stations.

In addition, he said, with this control card, the purchase of subsidized fuel is limited according to the provisions that apply in one filling.

He said the existence of the card also made it easier for the relevant government to monitor the distribution of subsidized fuel to prevent leakage or misuse of diesel in the field.

"This control card is a solution so that the distribution of subsidized fuel is right on target or to those who are entitled to receive it," he said.
