Thousands Of Roll Textiles Allegedly Illegal Found, The Role Of The Import Task Force Starts Running

The illegal textile Roll was found by the Special Task Force for Supervision of Certain Goods Enforced by the Imported Commercial Procedure (doc. Special).

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Supervision of Certain Goods Enforced by the Trade Minister's (Minister of Trade) Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas)'s Administration of Commerce and Imports revealed the smuggling of illegal textile import goods from China on August 1, 2024.

As is known, the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, on Friday, July 19, 2024, officially formed a Task Force for Supervision of Certain Goods that was implemented by the Import Commercial Procedure.

Information obtained from the authorities stated that the smuggled textiles belonged to businessman Amit Harjani.

It is estimated that the textiles smuggled from China to Indonesia reach 100 tons per month packaged in several containers.

Until now, the confiscated goods confiscated by smuggled textiles from China are still stored on Jalan Cempaka Putih Raya No. 32 RT 12/RW 4, Cempaka Putih Barat, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

Currently the police line is still installed in the goods. The investigation is still ongoing and awaiting results from the Task Force.

This task force was deployed to oversee the circulation of imports of seven commodities that had been agreed upon in a limited meeting (Ratas), including textiles and textile products (TPT), other textile products, electronics, footwear, clothing, ceramics, and cosmetic or beauty products.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Experts Association (IKATSI), M. Shobirin Hamid, said that the formation of the Task Force did not solve the problem of the increase in illegal imported goods in the country.

However, he admitted that he still appreciated the efforts made by the Government in eradicating illegal imports by establishing this Task Force.

"Actually, we from IKATSI appreciate what the government has done with the formation of a Task Force," said Shobirin.

"We already know that illegal imports are impossible with people in Tanah Abang Market or in several retailers."

"Surely, there are actually big importers who play there, yes, but why not take action. This means that the action is not right into the heart of the problem," he said again.
