Central Jakarta Police Deploy 1,309 Joint Personnel To Guard The Palestinian Defense Action In Front Of The US Embassy

JAKARTA - A demonstration from the Indonesian People's Alliance to Defend Palestine with the Palestinian and Yemen Solidarity Committee (KOSPY) in front of the US Embassy, Central Jakarta, was under tight guard from the joint personnel of the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

In the action that closed the Jalan Merdeka Selatan section, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, the Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed 1,309 joint personnel.

"We involved 1,309 joint personnel," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Police Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Saturday, August 3.

The joint personnel are from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Central Jakarta, TNI, Pemda DKI and related agencies. The joint personnel will later be placed at a number of points around the US Embassy in Central Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the diversion of traffic flow around Jalan Merdeka Selatan and several other locations is situational, seeing the number of people in the field.

"If later in the front of the US Embassy, the masses are quite large and the escalation increases, then the traffic flow that will lead to Jalan Merdeka Selatan will be diverted," he said.

Kombes Susatyo reminded all personnel involved in security to always act persuasively, not provoking and being provoked, prioritizing negotiations, humane services and maintaining security and safety.

Susatyo also appealed to field coordinators and orators to conduct speeches in a polite manner and not provoke the masses.

"Convey peaceful demonstrations, do not impose will, do not be anarchic and do not damage public facilities. Respect and respect other road users who will pass around the front of the US Embassy and several other locations," he said.
