Preventing Social Conflicts, Governor Explains Preparation Of Maps Prone To Conflicts In Kaltara

TANJUNG SELOR - Conflict is a very complex phenomenon, in reality conflicts are almost always multilayers.

Conflict involves two or more individuals or groups who have non-uniform goals and interests (Incompatible) with each other.

This was conveyed by the Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Zainal A. Paliwang while attending the Seminar for the Preparation of the North Kalimantan Conflict Prone Map at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) Makassar, Monday, July 29.

"Conflicts arise from imbalances in social status, wealth and power relations which result in the emergence of problems such as discrimination, unemployment, poverty and crime," said Governor Zainal.

From these various things, it can be concluded that conflict is all kinds of conflict interaction between two parties or more. In addition, conflicts can also arise from various situations, both individuals, groups, organizations and the state.

One of the challenges of conflict handling in Kaltara province is the lack of mapping potential conflicts. This document is important as an indicator and reference in preparing an Integrated Action Plan (RAD) so that it can be right on target.

"If we have a map, we have a sensor, therefore the province of Kaltara really needs a map of potential conflict as a censorship as well as anticipation," he explained.

In addition, the governor said that conflicts must be faced, handled and resolved by humans, both in their position as parties involved in them and as third parties who are not involved in getting out of the trap of the conflict.

Therefore, emphasizing that all parties, the presence of a map of potential conflict in urban districts in Kaltara is very urgent to be implemented immediately.

"I hope that with this seminar we can map the potential of potential in Kaltara by collecting data on conflicts that have occurred, with the aim of creating conflict prevention through conflict-prone maps in North Kalimantan," he said.
