PBNU Ensures Special Committee On PKB Starting Work Tomorrow, Lukman Edy Called

Chairman of the Nahdlaltul Ulama (NU) Executive Board Umarsyah ensured that the special committee that takes care of the relationship between the PBNU and the National Awakening Party (PKB) will start working tomorrow.

"Indeed, starting tomorrow the team led by KH Anwar Iskandar will work. But the details are what, we'll see tomorrow at the PBNU office," said Umarsyah as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 30.

Kabar tim tersebut mulai bekerja muncul ketika beredar surat beropop PBNU yang berisi panggilan terhadap Mantan Sekjen PKB Muhammad Lukman Edy.

The summons of Lukman Edy was made by PBNU based on the decision of the PBNU Plenary Meeting on 20-21 Muharram 1446 H/27-28 July 2024 AD.

In the letter, it was explained that Lukman was asked to come to the 5th floor meeting room of the PBNU building in the Kramat Raya area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (31/7).

"We hereby invite your presence to provide information regarding the relationship between Nahdlatul Ulama and the National Awakening Party," said the contents of the letter.

Previously, PBNU stated that it plans to form a five team or special committee that aims to seize PKB so that it returns to its original ideology.

This was done because the PBNU elite saw that PKB was no longer on the path of NU ideology and was only controlled by Muhaimin Iskandar and his crafts.

The formation of this special committee will resemble a team that initially gave birth to PKB in the past. This special committee will also certainly work effectively when it comes to approval from Rais Aam KH Miftachul Ahyar and PBNU General Chair KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.
