NasDem's Support For Anies In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Is Not Locked, Sahroni: Recommendations Can Be Given, But Not Of Course Registered

General Treasurer of NasDem Ahmad Sahroni said his party's support for Anies Baswedan to run in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election (Pilgub) was not yet locked.

According to him, although Anies has received a letter of recommendation (SK) for support as a candidate for governor from NasDem, it will not necessarily be registered as a contestant in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

"The key will be after he registers. Well, so, you don't mess around. Recommendations can be given, but suddenly they are not registered," said Sahroni at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, July 29.

Sahroni said that the political dynamics ahead of the registration of candidates for regional head elections in 2024 on August 27 were still very fluid. So he said, there is an opportunity for a decree that has been issued by NasDem against certain figures in the 2024 Pilkada to be canceled.

"Because politics is very dynamic. You can hold recommendations. Suddenly recommendations are refuted. Who knows?" he said.

The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR even admitted that he had not read the direct decree on support for Anies 'dugab' again in the Jakarta Pilkada. Because he admitted that he was not part of the NasDem Bappilu in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

"Well, I haven't read it yet, I don't know because I'm not Bappilu. But to this day everyone has asked where the letter is, where is the letter? We as NasDem people don't know yet, I don't know as a NasDem person. Because it's not in my Bapilu," said Sahroni.

Previously, the NasDem Party officially announced that it would carry Anies Baswedan to run as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta. The chairman of the NasDem Central Leadership Council (DPP) Willy Aditya emphasized that his party fully supports Anies unconditionally.

NasDem also gave Anies the freedom to choose for himself who would be his accompanying deputy governor candidate in the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial and deputy governor election (Pilgub).

"The NasDem Party presented Anies Rasyid Basweda's brother as a candidate for governor. The cawagub is still empty, it's up to him. NasDem unconditionally supports him," said Willy at NasDem Tower, Monday, July 22.
