Moeldoko Encourages Collaboration To Overcome Obstacles In The Electric Vehicle Ecosystem

JAKARTA - There are three obstacles in accelerating the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KLBB) ecosystem in Indonesia. Therefore, the Presidential Chief of Staff, General TNI (Ret.) Dr. Moeldoko hopes to increase collaboration to overcome these obstacles.

The first obstacle is the issue of electric vehicle batteries such as capacity and durability, charging duration, prices and security which are currently being discussed by the public.

"Second, leasing is also not much for electric vehicles and the third is about the undistributed charging station or SPKLU," said Moeldoko at the Governance Indonesia and ICBC Bank Product and Services Promotion Conference in Jakarta, Friday, July 26.

Especially regarding electric motorcycles, Moeldoko noted the difficulty of raising the electric vehicle ecosystem in the electric motorcycle sector. Even though there is already a subsidy provided by the government for buyers of electric motorcycles, he highlighted that battery problems are often an obstacle for consumers to switch to electric motorcycles.

Given this, Moeldoko welcomes various investments that can support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, especially in batteries and efforts to add charging stations, both for cars and electric cars.

"I should be proud that currently the more investments that support the electric vehicle ecosystem, this will be a breakthrough for Indonesia in expanding the use of electric vehicles," he explained.

Moeldoko reiterated that the government is strongly committed to developing a sustainable electric vehicle ecosystem. This is evidenced by tax incentive facilities for investors and producers to providing subsidies for electric motor vehicle owners.

"This is clear evidence of the government's commitment to providing convenience for users and electric vehicle investors," he said.

Moeldoko assessed that the current government has provided various conveniences for investors who support the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. Including, with the increasing number of electric vehicle brands. This can increase the interest of buyers because there are more choices," he added.

"Of course the government cannot do it alone, the key is collaboration, together with the private sector and the community," concluded Moeldoko.
