The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is waiting for the verdict for a copy of the cassation of the verdict of former Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) Rafael Alun Trisambodo.
This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika in response to the rejection of the appeal filed by the KPK against Rafael Alun by the Supreme Court (MA). One of the points is related to the return of assets that must be carried out by the anti-corruption commission.
"Still waiting for a complete verdict first," Tessa told reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, July 24.
Meanwhile, regarding the order to return Rafael's assets, Tessa did not want to talk much. "The KPK prosecutor has not been able to provide a response," he said.
Similarly, the Head of the KPK Prosecution Task Force, Wawan Yunarwanto, also agreed that no official copy of the decision had yet been received. "Our attitude is to wait," he said on a different occasion.
Even so, the anti-corruption commission prosecutor considered the Supreme Court's decision inappropriate. In fact, they said that the panel of judges did not have the same spirit in an effort to restore state finances through asset confiscation.
"We respect the decision of the Panel of Judges, but still for us the decision is not appropriate and is very contrary to all the facts of the trial that we have revealed in court and in fact it is proven that the defendant's assets are the result of a crime," said Wawan.
"On the other hand, the panel of judges does not have the same spirit and views in supporting the Government's program in eradicating corruption and optimizing asset recovery," he continued.
The Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by the KPK against the verdict of former Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance Rafael Alun Trisambodo. The panel of judges ordered assets that had been confiscated on behalf of Rafael's wife, Ernie Torondek, to be returned.
The decision was echoed by the panel of Supreme Court justices chaired by Dwiarso Budi Santiarto with members Arizon Mega Jaya and Noor Edi Yono. The verdict was knocked on Tuesday, July 16.
As previously reported, Rafael Alun Trisambodo was found guilty of receiving gratuities and money laundering. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and obliged to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million.

In addition, Rafael also had to pay a replacement money of Rp10,079,095,519. Later, he filed an appeal to the DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) and was still sentenced to 14 years.
However, the judge said that there were a number of pieces of evidence that could not be confiscated, one of which was a house in the Simprug area, Kebayoran Lama. Based on this decision, the anti-corruption commission filed an appeal or the latest legal action.
