NasDem Affirms Anies In The DKI Gubernatorial Election Without Terms

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party announced that it will carry Anies Baswedan to run as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta. Chairman of the NasDem Central Leadership Council (DPP) Willy Aditya emphasized that his party fully supports Anies.

NasDem also gave Anies the freedom to choose for himself who would be his accompanying deputy governor candidate in the 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial and deputy governor election (Pilgub).

"The NasDem Party presented Anies Rasyid Basweda's brother as a candidate for governor. The cawagub is still empty, it's up to him. NasDem unconditionally supports him," said Willy at NasDem Tower, Monday, July 22.

Willy assessed that Anies has great potential to win the election contest in Jakarta. This is based on the electability trend of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta in a number of surveys of the Jakarta cagub exchange.

"By looking at his electability trend, his actions, and integrity, of course, this is what is coveted, what is the aspiration of the citizens of Jakarta to continue his leadership in the DKJ, this is our benchmark," explained Willy.

Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Hermawi Taslim, admitted that his party had not issued an official suspension recommendation letter to Anies to run for the DKI Jakarta Pilkada. Because, until now Anies does not yet have a candidate pair for deputy governor.

Thus, the search for cawagub became a homework assigned to Anies so that he could get a suspension decree from NasDem before the registration period for regional head candidates.

"As soon as August 22, 2024, but it could be faster if Mr. Anies could finish his homework within three days. That means the 25th and so on," said Hermawi.

Meanwhile, Anies admitted that he would immediately carry out the tasks given by NasDem. The former governor of DKI Jakarta will communicate with political parties who want to carry him out to find an agreement on who he will pair with.

"I want to convey to all of these mandates, including the task of arranging a couple that God willing, will be discussed together. We hope that we will be able to work together with more other parties," explained Anies.

For information, there are already 3 political parties that intend to carry Anies as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta, namely NasDem, PKB, and PKS. However, NasDem and PKB have not officially issued a decree on their submission to Anies because they do not yet have a cawagub.

Meanwhile, only PKS has offered Cawagub to accompany Anies. PKS carries Anies in the Jakarta gubernatorial election and paired him with the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council Sohibul Iman.
