Attorney General: AF Attorney Used As Material For Hoaxes Of Bribery At Rizieq Shihab, Arrested In East Java In 2016

JAKARTA - Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, emphasized that the video of AF prosecutors allegedly accepting bribes at Rizieq Shihab's trial was a hoax.

"That the video of prosecutor AF's arrest has absolutely nothing to do with and to do with the trial process of Muhammad Rizieq Shihab at the East Jakarta District Court which is currently being carried out," Leonard said as quoted from his written statement, Sunday, March 21.

He explained that the arrest of the prosecutor in the video did exist. However, this happened in East Java related to the handling of a criminal act of corruption in the sale of village treasury lands in Kali Mok Village, Kalianget District, Sumenep, East Java in November 2016.

"That the official who explained the arrest of the prosecutor AF in the video is Mr. Yulianto, SH. MM, who currently serves as the Head of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) High Prosecutor's Office, "he said.

With this information, Leonard asked the public not to easily believe this hoax news and spread it. Because, those who distribute this video can be subject to the ITE Law with the threat of 6 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion.

"We also ask the public not to make news or videos or information that is untrue and disseminate it to the public through existing social media networks," he said.

As previously reported, a viral video was circulating saying that a prosecutor at Rizieq's trial was arrested for accepting bribes. The one-minute video was viral on social media.

"The admission of a prosecutor who admitted to accepting bribes in the case of Habib Rizieq's trial was revealed. Inaillahi is increasingly shattered by the face of Indonesian law," said the man narrating the image on the video in the early minutes.

In the video, there is also an interview with a man saying that a prosecutor with the initials AF was arrested at his boarding house for taking bribes. During the arrest, evidence was found in the form of cash in the denominations of IDR 50,000 and IDR 100,000, totaling IDR 1.5 billion.
