Jokowi Welcomes Various Cooperation Between The Republic Of Indonesia And The United Arab Emirates

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo welcomed various collaborations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (PEA), in the fields of trade, investment, energy, and socio-cultural.

This was conveyed by President Widodo in a bilateral meeting with PEA President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) in Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi, PEA, Wednesday, July 17.

"I want to convey four things, first related to trade cooperation. Thank God the CEPA negotiations have been completed and the United Arab Emirates is the first Middle Eastern country to have CEPA cooperation with Indonesia," Jokowi said as quoted by ANTARA.

The President also welcomed the payment system cooperation between Indonesia's central bank and the PEA central bank, as well as cooperation in the construction of a dock platform (LPD) for the UAE navy by PT PAL Indonesia.

"I am sure all of this will provide positive benefits for the trade between the two countries," said Jokowi.

Second, related to strategic investment cooperation, he conveyed that PEA's investment in Indonesia is getting stronger and one of Indonesia's focuses today is the construction of the new capital city of the archipelago and industrial downstream.

Third, regarding climate and clean energy cooperation, Jokowi appreciates the investment of 145 megawatts of floating solar power plants (PLTS) in the Cirata Reservoir, which will be developed up to 500 megawatts.

"I also welcome the ground breaking of the Mangrove Research Center in Bali and the cooperation of nuclear power plants between BRIN Indonesia and ENEC. And a noble thank you for your real support for Indonesia's energy transition," he said.

Fourth, regarding socio-cultural cooperation, President Widodo welcomed the 2024 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity for Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah to support Islamic tolerance and modernization.

"I also want to thank you for the construction of a mosque in Solo, my hometown, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and also the cardiology hospital in my hometown of Solo. And also the naming of roads in Abu Dhabi and the Joko Widodo mosque in Abu Dhabi. This will strengthen our relationship in the future between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates," he explained.
