BANJARMASIN - Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Kelana Jaya, said the results of the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) of the Surabaya branch of the Surabaya Police Headquarters on positive kecubung fruit contained atropin and scopolamine.

"For narcotics, psychotropic substances and other dangerous drugs are negative," he said in Banjarmasin as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 15.

Because there was no drug content, Kelana admitted that she could not take action against the use of amethysts in the community which are now viral on social media with various video narratives linking the high-dose victims as a result of consuming a tube.

Even so, the South Kalimantan Police are still trying to take preventive and educational steps in coordination with local governments.

"What is certain is that the use of the tube is not good based on the content, especially until it is mixed with illegal drugs and alcohol," he explained.

Regarding the victims being treated at the Sambang Lihum Mental Hospital which was said to be due to the use of warehousing fruit, Kelana admitted that from the information of the hospital, the majority of them took drugs and were drunk with mixed liquor.

"Indeed, he said there were also claiming to have consumed the kecubung fruit, but we cannot also confirm whether it was purely the impact of the tube or if there was a mixture of other ingredients consumed," he said accompanied by the Head of Public Relations Kombes Adam Erwindi and the Head of Kum Kombes Arif.

Meanwhile, regarding the use of illegal drugs that are often used for the effects of getting drunk or drug substitutes, Kelana ensures that law enforcement continues to eradicate their circulation.

Finally, the South Kalimantan Police's Narcotics Directorate confiscated 20,680 white unbranded drugs which are often mentioned by users of zenith or Carnophen from the suspect MS (47) at his home in Sungai Andai Village, Banjarmasin on Tuesday (9/7).

Based on the evidence, the suspect was charged with Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 17 of 2023 concerning Health.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Health Office of the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes dr. Muhammad El Yandiko explained that the content of atropin and scopolamine in the fruit of the warehousing is indeed dangerous for health if consumed.

Especially in the fruit and roots with the highest content, namely 0.4 to 0.9 percent followed by 0.2 to 0.3 percent leaves and flowers.

Yandiko said that naturally the tube also contains an alkaloid in medical, called the anti-oclinergic drug group that works in the central nervous system so that it can cause an increase in heart rate, anesthetics and hallucinations effects that can last for two days.

"Users will find it difficult to distinguish between reality and misery, then the effect of dependence follows and eventually causes poisoning if consumed repeatedly," he said.
