The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Wahyu Widada, only said that the process of handling the murder case of Vina and Eky was still in the evaluation process following the death of the suspect status of Peti Setiwan after winning the pretrial.

He made this statement when asked about the next steps that will be taken, namely looking for another Pegi alias Perong or actually new evidence to return to suspect Pegi Setiawan.

"Of course everything in the evaluation process we cannot convey, forcing someone to become a suspect is impossible like that," Wahyu told reporters, Monday, July 15.

After conveying this, the three-star general emphasized that the steps that investigators would take would later be in accordance with the evidence found.

"Everything will be carried out in accordance with the evidence we found," said Wahyu.

The sole judge of the Bandung District Court, Eman Sulaeman, granted the pretrial lawsuit filed by Pegi Setiawan. There were several considerations until the judge finally declared the status of suspect Pegi Setiawan invalid.

The West Java Regional Police are said to have not carried out the examination according to procedures, including not examining Pegi before determining him as a suspect.

In addition, the actions of the West Java Regional Police are also considered not in accordance with the Regulation of the National Police Chief Number 14 of 2020 concerning Management of Criminal Investigations, and Regulation of the National Police Chief Number 6 of 2019 concerning Criminal Investigation.

Based on this consideration, the judge stated that the determination of Pegi as a suspect by the West Java Regional Police was not in accordance with the procedure and was invalid according to the applicable law.

"Declaring the defendant's actions as a suspect in premeditated murder is invalid and illegal," Eman said in a verdict hearing at the Bandung District Court (PN), West Java, Monday last week.
